Course Objective The course aims to teach students the historical development and change of democracy from the steps towards democracy in the Ottoman Empire and especially in the Republic period.
Course Content This course aims to teach students basic concepts of social change and to provide them with theoretical and practical information about characteristics, causes and dimensions of social change; to analyze theoretical perspectives of social change by showing their advantages and disadvantages; to provide students with theoretical and practical information about social change in Turkey.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
Corequisite No the corequisite of lesson.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Students will be able to explain the studies carried out in the Ottoman Empire on democracy.
2 Students will be able to understand the studies carried out during the National Struggle in terms of National sovereignity.
3Students will be able to exlplain the definiton of Republic and the studies carried out to reach democratic republic in Atatürk’s period.
4The students wil be able to evaluate Turkey’s allience with the western countries after the World War II and transition to multiple-party life.
5Students will be able to explain the events after the multiple-party life.
6 Students will be able to understand not to look at the events happened in the past with today’s perspective.
7Students will be able to the effects of the topics studied in today’s world.
