Course Objective The main aim of this course is to develop learners’ understanding of trends and innovations related to theory and research issues in early childhood education. Also, it aims to investigate trends about early childhood professionals’ knowledge and skills in the various areas of curriculum, such as science, mathematics, and literacy. Some of the issues and challenges faced by young children, teachers and parents will be examined. Learners explain trends and innovations related to theory and research in connection with the quality issues of early childhood education.
Course Content Early childhood teachers’ awareness of trends and innovations in the field can help them meet different needs of the children in a more effective manner. Based on this purpose, trends and innovations in early childhood education will be discussed. The content of the course will be formed based on the following subjects: • Modernism and postmodernism in early childhood education • Reflective thinking and reflective teaching in early childhood education • Computers in early childhood education • Television and young children • Teaching foreign language in early childhood education • Disseminating early childhood services • Environmental education in early childhood education • Anti-bias education • Value education in early childhood education.
