Course Objective To develop an understanding of learning theories, such as behaviorist, cognitive, socio-cultural and constructivist theories, and philosophies of socio-cultural and constructivist approaches to learning mathematics
Course Content Overview of learning theories, learning theories in mathematics education including constructivist and socio-cultural views, and their basic principles and characteristics.

1Students should explain learning and variety of learning theories
2Students should explain fundamental principles of different learning theories
3Students should recognize the constructivist philosophy
4Students should recognize the socio-cultural philosophy
5Students should evaluate the development of mathematical knowledge and concepts from constructivist and socio-cultural perspectives
6Students should do research on implications of different perspectives on learning mathematical concepts, relations, and structures
13Students should explain fundamental principles of various cognitive development theories.
