COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course Objective	All materials contain macro-or micro-sized cracks. These fractured materials are subject to damage under the value of the safe stress. This damage, cracks are formed by the mechanism of growth and progress. The purpose of this course is to teach how this event.
Course Content	Introduction and history of fracture mechanics, stress concentrations, the elastic-plastic fracture mechanics, materials, Griffith brittle fracture theory, the crack tip stresses, brittle materials, fracture patterns, fracture mechanics formulation of Irwin (voltage violence factor), Irwin fracture mechanics formulation (energy release rate), internal stress cracks, multi-axis tensile fracture, the J-integral and R-curve, elasticity and tensile strength measurements, the calculation of the voltage of violence factor, fracture mechanics of engineering applications.
