Course Objective 1. The presentation and interpretation of adsorption events with experimental data,2. Adsorbents,3. The usage of adsorption technology at wastewater treatment,4. The expression of the application possibilities of adsorption isotherms,5. The interpretation of adsorption rate data and explanation of the adsorption mechanism,6. The determination of the adsorbent amount depending on the degree of pollution of wastewater.
Course Content 1. Adsorption theory: The principles of adsorption and adsorption forces,2. Adsorbent solids, Porosity, 3 Adsorption at solid-gas interfaces,4. Adsorption at liquid-liquid interfaces,5. Adsorbents and some physico-chemical properties,6. Zeolite, activated carbon, silica and alumina,7. The factors of affecting adsorption,8. Adsorption equilibrium,9. Adsorption isotherms: Langmuir Freundlich, Henry, BET,10.Adsorption thermodynamic; equilibrium constant, adsorption heat, entrophy and free energy,11.Adsorption kinetics; kinetic equations and properties, diffusion coefficient; mass transfer coefficient,.12.Thermodynamic activation parameters, 13.Surface reactions,14. Analytical applications of adsorptions,15. Evaluation of adsorption and adsorption kinetics data.
