Course Objective To look through philosophical perspective to culture. To understand the phenomenon of culture and cultural theory. To grasp the elements, basic institutions and structures of Turkish culture world. To undersand The cultural dimension of globalization and it's threats to the world of culture.
Course Content What is culture? What are the cultural theories? Cultural concepts: cultural disintegration, cultural diffusion, cultural identity, cultural affinity, cross-cultural relations, cultural-history relations. Elements of the Turkish culture world: Ethics, education, politics, family, oral culture products; distribution of roles in the socio-cultural structures and problems. The cultural dimension of globalization and threats to world culture. Change in social culture; modernization concept and phenomenon. Scientific ethics. Criterias. Scientific ethic in Turcology and Turkish world. Legal aspects of plagiarism and scientific ethics in scientific works.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1The concept of culture, the concepts of cultural theories, access to resources, the ability to use resources in the framework of scientific criteria.
2To be able to discuss the concept of Turkish cultural world and to acquire the ability to perceive the relationships between knowledge and concepts.
3Concepts related to culture: the ability to analyze, analyze, critique and interpret the information in the world of information and thought, such as cultural dissolution, propagation, identity, affiliation.
4The elements of the Turkish culture: Recognize scientific methods related to ethics, education, politics, family, oral culture products, compile studies and gain the ability to examine them.
5To learn about the problems related to the Turkish World, to gain knowledge, hardware skills that can deepen and graduate studies in this field.
6To be able to recognize the other disciplines in the field of Turkish culture and to be able to analyze the problems of the Turkish World and to gain a holistic view of analyzes.
7To gain the ability to bring cultural elements to national and universal, to prepare for new and up-to-date production with the knowledge gained in Turkish culture and problems.
8To gain the ability to transfer the acquired knowledge in a clear and easy way orally and in writing.
