Course Objective To enable students to become effective media users by way of deciphering all kinds of media influences, occurred through the open/implicit elements in the media, on individuals and the society.
Course Content Information literacy; the conscious use of the internet and social media; the effects of social media on individuals; the power of the media to disseminate information and to mislead; power of media to disseminate news; media and perception control; legal rights and responsibilities for the media and the internet; Copyright; personal rights; information confidentiality; privacy violation; language use in the media; value and quality analysis of news; popular culture; gender female representations in the media; consumerism and advertisements; stereotyping in the media
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
