Course Objective To provide the ability of analyzing thermal systems by having the knowledge of the basic concepts of heat and heat transfer, methods of mathematical modeling at various geometry and design media.
Course Content Introduction to heat transfer, Principles of the conservation of energy General heat diffusion equation, Boundary and initial conditions One-dimensional steady-state heat conduction, Thermal Resistant, Radial systems Conduction with thermal energy generation Finned surfaces Analytical and numerical solutions of two-dimensional heat conduction Transient Conduction Introduction to convection Boundary layer similarity External flow Cross flow over the cylinder, the sphere and banks of tubes Internal flow

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Describe the concepts of heat transfer by conduction, convection and radiation.
2Select the appropriate boundary and initial conditions in the thermal systems.

4Select the material type and the thickness in the isolated thermal systems.
