COURSE DESCRIPTION
Course Level Bachelor's Degree
Course Type Elective
Course Objective The aim is to examine in detail the new educational paradigms proposed by critical pedagogy—which emphasizes inquiry, the development of critical consciousness, humanization, and liberation in education as an alternative to current classical educational approaches—and to encourage prospective teachers to reflect deeply on a different educational paradigm.
Course Content This course seeks to reconstruct education through the concept of “emancipation.” To this end, it first focuses on P. Freire’s critique of the “Banker Model of Education” to foster awareness for dialogical consciousness. In this way, it seeks to propose an alternative educational approach—rooted in ontological, epistemological, and ethical foundations—as a counterpoint to traditional educational programs. It presents methods for teachers to conduct social analysis with a philosophical spirit of inquiry, enabling them to become intellectuals of our time. Within this framework, the educational principles proposed by critical pedagogy are also analyzed.
