Course Objective This is an introductory survey of American Literature from its beginning until the end of the Eighteenth century. It gives the students a general outline of American Literaure and a detailed history of the United States of America and her cultural roots. Writers studied generally include Benjamin Franklin, Wasahington Irwing, James Fenimore Cooper, Philip Freneau, William Cullen Bryant, Edgar Allen Poe, Nathaniel Hawthorne.
