COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course Objective The aim of this course defining the coins since the emergence of producing.
Course Content To have information about the coins, related terms, the history and development of coinage and the examples of Roman, Byzantine, Great Seljukid, Anatolian Seljukid, Ilkhanid and Ottoman coins.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
Corequisite No the corequisite of lesson.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Will be able to understand the concept of Numismatics.
2Will be able to have information about the coins and their general features. Will be able to explain the making (struck) of coins. Will be able to understand the use of tools and techniques in making (struck) coins.
3Will be able to have information about the coinage in Anatolia and the features of Ancient Coinage.
4Will be able to have information about the developments in coinage and the use of coins in Anatolia.
5Will be able to describe the figural and epigraphical features of Ancient Greek and Hellenistic Coinage.
6Will be able to define the figural and epigraphical features of Roman Republican coins Will be able to define the figural and epigraphical features of Roman Imperial coins.
7Will be able to interpret the figural representations on Byzantine coins from the religious aspects. Will be able to define and evaluate the figural programs on the Sassanid coins.
8Will be able to know the general features of Early Islamic and Turco-Islamic coins.
9Will be able to define the examples of Abbasid coins. Will be able to define and compare the coins of the Ayyubids and the Zangids.
10Will be able to investigate the ornamentation programs and the epigraphical features of the Artukid coins.Will be able to define and evaluate the ornamentation programs and the epigraphical features of the Seljukid coins.
11Will be able to know and evaluate the coins of the Early Ottoman period. Will be able to know and evaluate the coins of the Late Ottoman period.
