Course Objective
The aim of course is requiring an insight on the themes of Islamic art and their evolution within the Islamic visual tradition. At the end of the course, the students will be able to identify the themes and iconography of the images. Besides they will be familiarized with the written sources of the Islamic iconography.

Introduction to the themes of Islamic painting and the relationship between the text and images, Reading the classical texts of Persian and Turkish literature, Examining the evolution of text and images within the history of Islamic painting.
