COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course Objective The aim of course is defineing the art products are processed in the countries that have embraced Islam. Aims to describe the architectural samples and their decorations such as mosques, madrasas, khans, palace and fortress etc. built in Almoravid, Almohad, Nasiriyah and Merini period, which established the independent states at North Africa, after Fatimid State, Mamluk State, Ayyubid State and Abbasid Dynasty lose their impact. Will be given information about the impact of these architectural samples and decorations on the works in Anatolia.
Course Content Aims to describe the architectural samples and their decorations such as mosques, madrasas, khans, palace and fortress etc. built in Almoravid, Almohad, Nasiriyah and Merini period, which established the independent states at North Africa, after Fatimid State, Mamluk State, Ayyubid State and Abbasid Dynasty lose their impact. Will be given information about the impact of these architectural samples and decorations on the works in Anatolia.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Will be able to have information about the Fatimid History and the their architectural works.
2Will be able to describe the Great Mosque of Mehdiye.Will be able to know and compare the features of plan and ornamentation in the Mosques of Al-Azhar and Al-Akmar.Will be able to know and present the mosques of Talayi and Cuyushi.
3Will be able to have information about the Fatimid military architecture on the examples of Beni Hammad Castle and Bab’ul Futuh.Will be able to describe one of the important city gates, Bab’un-Nasr.
4Will be able to have information about the Fatimid ceramic and metal works.Will be able to describe and make general evaluation of the Fatimid Art and architecture.
5Will be able to have information about the History of the Mamluqs and their important architectural works.
6Will be able to define the features of ornamentaion and plan in the Mosque of Sultan Baibars I.Will be able to have detailed information about the Madrasa and Tomb of Sultan Qalavun. Will be able to know and compare the Madrasa of Sultan Hasan and the complex of Sheikh Melik Mueyyed.
7Will be able to have information about history of the Ayyubids. Will be able to describe the features of architecture, ornamentation and plan in Cami’u-Rızk at Hasankeyf.
8Will be able to examine the art and architecture of North Africa.Will be able to define the Murabit Period and the Great Mosque of Tlemsen.
9Will be able to have information about the Muvahhid Period and their works such as Great Mosque of Tinmel and Kutubiyah Mosque at Maraqesh. Will be able to describe the Muvahhid buildings such as Great Mosque of Taza and Hasan Mosque at Rabat. Will be able to make general evaluation of the Muvahhid Art and architecture.
10Will be able to have information about the Merini Period and their works such as Mansura Mosque at Tlemsen, The Madrasa of Abu Inaniyah at Fez. Will be able to describe the features of architecture, ornamentation and plan in the Palace of Al-Hamra at Granada-Spain.
11Will be able to make general evaluation of the art and architecture of North Africa.
