COURSE DESCRIPTION

Course Objective To provide students with basic occupational health and safety training, to create a culture of safety in students, to provide information about the purpose and scope of the occupational health and safety law No. 6331, in workplaces; to provide basic information about the duties, powers and responsibilities for ensuring occupational health and safety, to provide basic information about the rights and obligations of the employer and the employee; to provide students with basic information about their rights and obligations in the workplace, to ensure that the student can follow and interpret the legal legislation on occupational health and safety.
Course Content The concept and development of occupational health and safety; Developments in the world and Turkey related to occupational health and safety; Overview of occupational health and safety and safety culture, duties of institutions, organizations and employees in the creation of safety culture; National and international organizations and conventions related to occupational health and safety; Occupational health and safety management systems; Hazard and risk concepts in occupational health and safety; Risk management, assessment and methodology; Risk analysis and sample applications; Occupational health and safety risk factors (physical, chemical, biological... ); Occupational accidents, causes, prevention and protection principles; Occupational diseases, causes, prevention and protection principles Ergonomics concept and first aid to provide basic occupational health and safety training to students and to create a safety culture in students.

COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES
1Understand the basic concepts of occupational safety legislation and occupational safety
2To be able to use the definition of occupational accidents, causes and international accident assessment methods
3To be able to comprehend national institutions related to occupational safety, occupational safety expertise powers and responsibilities
4To be able to recognize the design and standards of work equipment for occupational safety, health and safety training and standards in workplaces, certification, OHSAS 18001 (TS 18001) occupational health and safety quality standard
5To be able to comprehend and apply the regulations related to the profession
