Course Objective The aim of the course is to introduce the birth and development of political parties in the West and Turkey from a theoretical, conceptual and legal perspective.
Course Content Definition of political parties, the relationship of political parties with democracy, theories on the origin of political parties, functions of political parties, aspects that distinguish political parties from similar organizations, party types, party systems, election systems, relations between them, public financing of politics, the roles played by political parties in state administration, , party patronage, regulations regarding the closure of political parties in Europe, history of political parties in Turkey, approaches and methods regarding candidacy in Political Parties, Turkish Political Parties Law, Political Parties in the 21st Century.
Prerequisites No the prerequisite of lesson.
Corequisite No the corequisite of lesson.

1Defines the terms related to political parties and political party classification.
2Explains the emergence and development of political parties and party systems in Europe and the USA
3Explains the history of Turkey's political parties and the evolution of the party system.
4Evaluates the Turkish Political Parties Law
5Evaluates sociological and legal problems regarding the functioning of the Turkish party system.
